Beyond the physical

Hey guys!
So, I’ve been studying the book of Jeremiah for like forever! I’m already tired and can’t wait to read the last chapter.

Yesterday, I read Chapter 49 and something jumped at me that I would like to quickly share with you.

Jeremiah 49: 1-3
This is what the Lord says:

“Has Israel no sons?
    Has Israel no heir?
Why then has Molek taken possession of Gad?
Why do his people live in its towns?
2 But the days are coming,”
    declares the Lord,
“when I will sound the battle cry
    against Rabbah of the Ammonites;
it will become a mound of ruins,
and its surrounding villages will be set on fire.
Then Israel will drive out
    those who drove her out,”
says the Lord.
3 “Wail, Heshbon, for Ai, is destroyed!
Cry out, you inhabitants of Rabbah!
Put on sackcloth and mourn;
rush here and there inside the walls,
for Molek will go into exile,
together with his priests and officials.

Molek/Molech was a god of human sacrifice. Babies and children were often sacrificed to him.

In the verses above, Jeremiah was reading God’s judgment to the Ammonites. You notice God interchanged Molek with the king and princes.
He was addressing the spirit behind the actions of the Ammonites. Physically, the Israelites may have attributed the actions of the king of Ammon to him and the princes. But in the spirit realm, their actions were influenced by Molek.

While on earth, Jesus always addressed the spirit behind sicknesses and afflictions. From the mad man at Gadara (Mark 5: 1-20), The healing of deaf people(Mattew9:32-33), and the mute(Mark 9:17-26).

To our highly scientific world, these situations were medical cases of schizophrenia, deafness, etc. But from the spiritual dimension, we know that there is more to life than meets the eye.

As a person of faith, if you are going through certain difficult challenges, it’s important to pray effectually. It is also important to address the spirits behind the challenge.

The enemy would often afflict us with things common to our environment that we begin to think it’s normal.

For example, a young graduate trying unsuccessfully for a job. For someone who lives in Nigeria, jobs are hard to come by. An opening for 10 people, can attract 500,000 applications.
While it may be normal not to get the job, having repeated cycles of rejection might lead one to begin serious prayer work.

For someone else, it could be delays in other areas of life. You’ve tried your best and your best doesn’t seem to yield results.

As we know, some spirits exert influence on people without the permission of those folks causing sickness, strange behaviours or disfavour.

To balance it, everything that happens to us is not caused by spirits. It doesn’t mean that we fold our hands and wait, without doing anything. However, it is important to know when there is a spirit/demonic dimension to the challenges we face.

Dealing with issues like this requires fasting and prayers. It requires storing up the word of God and binding those spirits ending their influence over your life and family.

    Yes…

It’s vital to connect with the Source of the flow of goodness. God’s power is our spiritual advantage. Even if we don’t get an instant miracle, His counsel gives us strategies for overcoming our challenges.

This writeup is so true. Most times there is more to things than meets the physical eye especially when it’s a repeated cycle. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Lord, open my spiritual eyes to my environment and circumstances and may I know when to engage in warfare over issues around me. Amen.

Indeed the spiritual controls the physical, hence the need to be spiritually alert always to know when happenings in our lives go beyond the ordinary.
