If you were conversant with Nigeria blogosphere back in the days of Blackberrys, then you would know this checklist.

I always wondered why most of the female bloggers had natural hair and why a HUGE part of their blog was dedicated to their hair journey.

After many years, I can finally relate.
Two years ago, I stopped relaxing my hair. Prior to that, I admired Chimamanda’s (ehe nau) hair. Add my friends Debbie, Nala, Nonye and a couple of others to the list.

While I loved the idea of natural hair, I loved my silky edges more. However, one sunny December two years ago, without overthinking it, I abruptly stopped using relaxers on my hair.

I had to choose between a big chop and allowing the relaxed hair to grow out. I chose the latter. Sadly, I don’t have a how it started picture but here we are today almost 2 years later.

Two years later, I still don’t have any of those hair proteins and carbohydrates(inserts funny face)
What I’ve done however is to ensure I wash and weave the hair every two weeks.

Braided into a protective weave

I look forward to when I’ll do a hair product blog. That will officially induct me into the “natural hair bloggers gang”.

Do you carry natural hair? How long gone are you on your journey? Thinking of going back to relaxers? Let me hear your thoughts in the comment section.
